Now that his “metanarrative” album has at last been freed into the world, and that the long running “warehouse sessions” is about to come to a close with the release of its 5th volume, this 12" features the most recent material from mark stewart’s archives. ‘Rise’ started life as an elongated gamelan track that went through several incarnations and variations before settling on this relentless 11 minute mix. Gone are stewart’s signature snares, in come all manner of miniscule percussive arrangements, panning drums and tempo shifts that toy with the possibilities of restraint and reduction.
